The military mid wave thermal imager system has been replaced by the M5 & M7 family of extra long range LWIR infrared security & surveillance systems. These PTZ thermal imaging systems have rugged, sealed housing meant for extreme conditions like combat situations. Not even rain can hold them back, because they have an integrated wiper system to the keep the lens clear of debris. These systems offer more advanced optics for maximum situational awareness.

About the Mid Wave Thermal Imager System

Integrated seamlessly with the MMX's mid wave thermal imager are a visible camera with 18x optical zoom, built in flux gate compass and GPS, mounted on a 360° pan/tilt base. The system includes a remotely controllable user-friendly power supply and control box with Ethernet interface and an integrated joystick control.

Operating in the 3-5 micron spectral region, the military mid wave thermal imager utilizes advanced cooled photodetector technology in a 320 x 256 Indium Antimonide InSb, ultra sensitive, 30 micron pitch focal plane array. The MMX's optical system, equipped with an automatically controlled defroster, is protected with a diamond-like hard carbon coating designed to withstand the harshest of conditions, while the interior elements utilize extremely efficient anti-reflection coatings that provide outstanding transmission in all environments. The MMX's is self-contained in a nitrogen backfilled environmentally sound enclosure qualified to Military Standard 810.
